Rebecca Lynn Rice-Lachowolski

Rebecca Lynn Rice-Lachowolski, age 71, of Savanna, IL, passed away September 15, 2024 at MercyOne Hospital, in Clinton, IA. Cremation rites have been accorded, and a celebration of Rebecca’s life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Ridge Runners, in Savanna.

Rebecca was born June 28, 1953 in Savanna, the daughter of Paul and Pauline (Lahre) Rice. She attended grade school in Savanna and graduated from Hanover High School.

In 1986, Rebecca married Mike Lachowolski, and for the rest of their lives, they would remain one-another’s companion. Rebecca spent most of her working years providing in-home care for the elderly, and also worked for Big Meadows, and Sullivan’s Bakery, respectively.

She enjoyed living a simple life, full of quality time with family and friends. Shopping and garage sale-ing with her daughter was always a favorite pastime, and as she grew older and was blessed with grandchildren, they became a source of tremendous joy for Rebecca. She also held an especially close relationship with her sister, Rosina. She’d go to Rosina’s home every Sunday for lunch and an afternoon full of card games. Her sister’s passing just two months ago, was very hard on Rebecca, but we can now rejoice, knowing their spirits are together once more.

Rebecca is survived by her long-time husband and companion, Mike Lachowolski; daughter, Shonna (Todd) Tietjens; brother, Paul (Diane) Wurster, Sr.; grandchildren, Hunter, Eli, and Emma; a special niece (who was like a daughter to Rebecca), Rhonda Clarkson; and many nieces and nephews. Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Pauline Rice; and siblings, Wayne, Bill, Alice, and Rosina.
