Rebecca Haag

October 20, 1934 — December 30, 2018

Rebecca “Becky” Haag, age 84, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois passed away peacefully on December 30, 2018 at Liberty Village Nursing Home in Freeport surrounded by her husband and family members. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2019 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll with a Moose Service of Tribute being held at 4:45 p.m., prior to the visitation. Cremation Rites will be accorded following the visitation. A celebration of life will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Savanna Moose Lodge, with a meal to follow. Burial of her cremated remains will take place in Oakville Cemetery, rural Mt. Carroll at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Becky was born October 20, 1934 in Mt. Carroll the daughter of Theodore and Ethel (McCray) Lantz. She attended Mt. Carroll High School. She and her husband James L. Haag were married at the First Lutheran Church in Mt. Carroll on September 9, 1951. They celebrated 67 years of marriage.

Becky and Jim lived in Mt. Carroll all of their lives where they raised their family. Along with being a stay at home mother to their four children, she worked at the Ben Franklin Store and Good Samaritan Center in Mt. Carroll. Becky enjoyed sewing, crafting, ceramics and knitted many beautiful items. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Sunday School teacher and a member of the National Society of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution. Becky was a member of the Women of the Moose in Savanna for many years and served as Recorder and Senior Regent. She was also a member of the College of Regents with the Women of the Moose. Becky and Jim enjoyed many summers spent camping at Yellowstone Lake in Wisconsin with family members. Most of all she loved spending time with her husband and being a mother and grandmother.

She will be lovingly missed by her husband, James L. Haag; her daughters, Connie (Dick) Zuhde of Rock Springs, Wisconsin, Sibyl (Jack) Doty of Mt. Carroll, Damarius Haag of Elizabeth; one son, James E Haag of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Kirk D. and Erin Bausman, Jocelyn Appelman, Aimee Royal, Chad and Andrew Doty, Alicia McMachan, Taylor and Tyra Haag; 18 great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Tom Hyatt; and a niece and nephew.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Ethel; her brother, Neil Lantz; and an infant son, Kevin Brian.
