Raymond "Bud" Tarlton, Jr., age 78, of Thomson, Illinois died Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center West, Davenport, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 31 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna, with Father Dennis Atto as Celebrant. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 30 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna, with a Rosary at 8:30 p.m. Bud's pallbearers will be his Tongue Twirler friends. A memorial fund has been established in Bud's name.
Bud was born May 11, 1928 in Lexington, Missouri, the son of Raymond and Pearl (Huffman) Tarlton. He is a graduate of Lexington High School, Lexingington, Missouri and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Bud married Evelyn Schiller in 1952. She passed away in 1996. On June 17, 1997, Bud married Patricia Johnston in Pennsylvania.
Bud served 30 years in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer Fourth. He then worked 12 years at the Defense Ammunition Center of the Savanna Army Depot, retiring in 1991.

Bud was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Savanna where he was a member of the Parish Council and sang in the Resurrection Choir. He enjoyed flying and his membership in Chapter 410 Pilots Association of Rock Falls, Illinois. He liked singing and working with computers. Bud truly loved his Church family and friends.
Bud will be dearly missed by his wife, Patricia of Thomson; his son, James (Carol) Schiller of Marshfield, Missouri; his son in-law, David (Patty) Duval of Waxhaw, North Carolina and daughter in-law, Michelle (John) Smithmyer of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, Tina, Mike, Tracy, Heather, Scott, Riley, Megan, Emily and Melissa; ten great-grandchildren; his mother in-law, June Johnston of Martinsburg, Pennsylvania; two brother in-laws, John (Diana) Morrison and Bob (Jan) Johnston; and nieces and nephews, Bill, Debbie, Carol, Patt, Mike, Pat, Scott and Janel. Bud will also be missed by his friends and next-door neighbors Denny, Mary, Bryan and Angie Hebeler.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, his sister, Winifred Morrison and both parents.
