Raymond Slade, age 69, of Hanover, Illinois, died Monday, April 23, 2007 at his home in Hanover, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, April 28, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Hanover, Illinois. Military Rites will be accorded by the Hanover Veterans of Foreign War Post #5300. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Raymond was born October 10, 1937, the son of Roy F. and Louise (Boulier) Slade in Londonderry, Vermont. He attended Vermont schools. Raymond served with the United States Army Special Forces for 20 years. On June 24, 1958 he married Gisela VonKomorowski, in Berlin, Germany.
Raymond was a Manager of Residential Property for many years. He was a Lifetime member of Belvidere Illinois Veterans of Foreign War Post #1461, and was a member of the Special Forces Association. He enjoyed fishing, Gensing Hunting and was an enthusiastic Chicago Bears football fan.
Raymond will be dearly missed by his wife, Gisela of Hanover; two sons Roy Slade of Hanover and James (Kiala) Slade of Hanover; a daughter Sandra Slade of Hanover; a grandson, Brandon; two granddaughters, Jackie Slade and Tara Sue Slade; two great grandchildren, Dylan and Victoria; a brother Bill (Nancy) Slade of Florida; a sister Jean Lynch of Massachusetts; two sister in-laws Ursula Wandel of Belvidere, Illinois, Regina (John) Baker of Maryland; three nieces Debbie (Randy) Kelly, Patricia Wandel, Irene (Troy) Ambler; a nephew Robert (Betty) Wandel and other great nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents.
