Ramona Bradshaw, age 89 of Savanna, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Carroll County Good Samaritan Society in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Cremation Rites have been accorded. A memorial funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 4, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna. A memorial gathering will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the mass at Antl Hall, Savanna. Burial of her cremated remains will take place in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. Memorials may be made to Carroll County Good Samaritan Society, Mt. Carroll.
Ramona was born on November 3, 1928, the daughter of Herman and Sigrid (Englund) Johnson in Goodwin, South Dakota. She graduated from Goodwin High School and graduated as the Valedictorian with the Class of 1946. On September 28, 1948, Ramona married Edward Bradshaw. They celebrated 43 years of marriage until Edward’s passing.
Ramona was a homemaker, who cherished taking care of her family. She later worked for State Farm Insurance for 20 years. She also worked at River Valley Designs floral shop in Savanna with her daughter, Barb. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Savanna, where she was active with the St. John’s Choir and the Catholic Women. She also served as treasurer of the Savanna Food Pantry. Ramona enjoyed painting, golfing, bowling, and gardening. She also enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.
Ramona will be dearly missed by her two sons, Mark (Jan) Bradshaw of Savanna, Illinois and Todd Bradshaw of Fulton, Illinois; three daughters, Julane (Dennis) Bowman and Barb (Patrick) Tracey, both of Savanna, Illinois, and Robin (Jeff) Melvin of Mokena, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and one brother, Herman (Karen) Johnson Jr. of Sioux City, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Ramona is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Sigrid; her husband Edward; one brother, Merlyn; two sisters, Barb and Dolly; one son, Craig; and an infant son, Edward John.
