Ramon “Ray” Arnett Hunt, age 86 of Hanover, Illinois, died on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the Hanover United Methodist Church, Hanover. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, October 5, 2015 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover. A memorial fund has been established in Ray’s memory.
Ray was born on September 25, 1929, the son of Ordrey and Geneva (Mest) Hunt in Hanover. He attended Hanover High School and graduated with the Class of 1947. Ray proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1951-1953 and was stationed in Germany.
Ray learned the carpentry trade while enlisted in the army and helped build local homes. He was a member of the Hanover Methodist Church, the Hanover V.F.W., and served as a Mason. Ray loved trains, especially photographing trains and collecting model trains.
Ray will be dearly missed by his cousins, Karen Hunt of Oakland, California and Donna Richman of Darlington, Wisconsin; close friends, Tom Simmons of Galena, Illinois, Linda (Mark) Windsor and Richard Murray of West Palm Beach, Florida; and Ray’s Godson, Michael Hunt Murray. Ray was preceded in death by his parents.
