Ralph Dale Irwin, age 79, of Fennimore, Wisconsin formerly of Hanover, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Thursday Sept. 22, 2011 at his residence in Fennimore. Ralph was born on March 18, 1932 in Hanover, IL the son of Donald & Beulah (Grabie) Irwin. He was united in marriage to Darlene Frontz in February 1954 in Mineral Point, WI.
Ralph attended the Edgerton Elementary School and graduated from Hanover High School. Following high school, Ralph enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. After being honorable discharged, he was engaged in farming, carpenter, gunsmith, vending sales, and also drove bus for the Quad City Angels. Ralph then moved to Colorado and got involved in selling real estate until moving to Arkansas and then making his home in Fennimore in 1995. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Hanover, IL.
Ralph is survived by his two sons Devon and his wife Patricia Irwin of Moline, IL and Dan Irwin of Stockton, IL; a daughter, Nanette and her husband George Guerra of Newport News, Virginia; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; along with his special friend Marge Peterson and the Peterson family. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Gail Robertson.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday Sept. 27, 2011 at the Hanover United Presbyterian Church in Hanover, IL Rev. Ron Sumption will be officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Hanover, IL with Military Honors by the Hanover VFW Post # 5300. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Tuesday morning. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore, WI and the Law Jones Funeral Home of Hanover is assisting the family.
