Rachel Lucille Kingery (Bork), Age 96, of Mt. Carroll, died Friday April 1, 2016 at Liberty Village Nursing Home, Freeport, Illinois. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday April 7, 2016 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll with Reverend David Vidler officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday April 6, 2016 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Rachel’s name.
Rachel was born May 10, 1919 in rural Mt. Carroll, the daughter of Amil and Hazel (Thompson) Bork. She married Merle Kingery, of Mt. Carroll, January 7, 1939 in Clinton Iowa.
Rachel loved spending time with her family, bird watching, playing chicken legs, and tending to her flower gardens. She was a wonderful mother and wife.
Rachel will be dearly missed by her two sons, Kenneth (Ursula) Kingery of Mt. Carroll and Gerald (Sharon) Kingery of Florence, Colorado; four daughters, Phyllis (Robert) Vock of Shannon, Mary Ann (Ernie) Johnson of Shannon, Merleen Eckburg of Lanark, and Glenalee Brown (fiancé Jeff Gibbs) of Lanark; three brothers; Glen (Millie) Bork of Mt. Carroll, Orville (Eleanor) Bork of LeHigh Acres, Florida, and Gerald (Doris) Bork of Mt. Carroll; one sister, Francis Knapp of Mt. Carroll; twenty grandchildren; fifty-two great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren.
Rachel was preceded death by her parents; her beloved husband, Merle; six brothers, Donald, Marshall, Richard, Harold, Clyde and Lloyd Bork; two sisters, Evelyn Schnitzler and Helen Goddard, and one son in-law, John Eckburg.
