Phyllis A. Miller, age 82, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at FHN Hospital, Freeport, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be prior to the Service from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Phyllis was born October 13, 1928 in Erie, Illinois, the daughter of James Vern and Elna (Jacobson) Mickle. Phyllis is a 1946 graduate of the Erie High School. On October 31, 1947, Phyllis married John E. Miller in Covington, Kentucky.
Phyllis worked at General Electric in Morrison, Illinois for twenty-seven years. She was a past member of the Women’s Relief Corp. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre. She enjoyed making Sunday and Holiday dinners and having all of her family home. Phyllis was known for her home-made apple pies and her chicken and noodles. Most of all she treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was important to her and she kept the extended family connected.
Phyllis is survived and will be dearly missed by four daughters and five sons, Sheri (Edward) Traum of Mt. Carroll, Sharon Woodhurst (Shane Wilkins) of Savanna, Roger Miller (Brenda Fabra) of Savanna, Robert Miller of Dixon, Michael (Jeri) Miller of Mt. Carroll, Jeanie (Kyle) Schnitzler of Mt. Carroll, Richard Miller (Deb Thulen) of Savanna, Douglas Miller (Karen Rodda) of Mt. Carroll and Wendy (Arthur) Sipe of Mt. Carroll; thirty-seven grandchildren; forty-eight great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband John E. Miller; twin sons at birth; a great grandson, Kaden Schnitzler; daughter in-law, Carol Sue Miller; her sister, Joy Ferguson; and three brothers, Duane, Keith and Donald Mickle.
