Phyllis M. Lambert, age 79 of Savanna, Illinois, died on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Community United Church of Christ, Savanna. Burial will be in the Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Community United Church of Christ, Savanna. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Community United Church of Christ in Phyllis’s memory.
Phyllis was born on January 27, 1932, the daughter of Ralph W. and Mary J. (Meyers) Marshall in Glen Haven, Wisconsin. She attended Blake Prairie School in Glen Haven and later attended Jefferson High School in Dubuque, Iowa. Phyllis married John G. Lambert on November 6, 1948 in Dubuque. John died on June 18, 1989.
Phyllis worked for National Lock, Elkay Manufacturing and later K-Way in Mount Carroll. She was a member of the Community Church of Christ, where she was active in the church council. Phyllis also helped with the church sponsored thrift store and food pantry. She was involved with Relay for Life and volunteered to transport cancer patients to their appointments. Phyllis was a forty-year member of Wa-Tan-Ye, where she served as past district director. Most of all, Phyllis loved spending time with her family and friends.
Phyllis will be dearly missed by two sons, John (Judy) Lambert of Stuart, Oklahoma and Kevin Lambert of Savanna; one daughter, Nancy (Doug) Hollister of Rockford, Illinois; eight grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three sisters, Dorothy Clark of Honeywell, Missouri, Betty Brennen of Dubuque and Shirley (Don) Schueller of Dubuque and one sister in-law, Ruby Marshall of Bloomington, Wisconsin.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; one daughter, Marilyn Lambert and one brother, Donald Marshall.
