Phyllis Mae Bellich, age 75, of Savanna, Illinois died Monday, February 25, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, Iowa. Cremation rites have been accorded. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Law Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the service at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna with Father Dennis Atto as Celebrant. A memorial fund has been established in Phyllis’ memory.
Phyllis was born October 29, 1937, the daughter of Clarence and Bernice (Clay) Johns in Washington Township, Savanna. She graduated from Savanna High School with the Class of 1955. On February 16, 1957, Phyllis married Paul Bellich in the St. John’s Rectory, Savanna.
Phyllis worked as a telephone operator for the Central Telephone Company, Savanna and the Savanna Army Depot in drafting and payroll until her retirement in 1993. Afterwards, she worked as a bookkeeper for Sullivan’s Foods, Savanna. Phyllis enjoyed reading, old movies, television, and her family’s genealogy. Phyllis stayed in touch with all of her family. She would call her family on the phone, send birthday cards, and remember special occasions. Phyllis was very proud of her grandsons and she loved spending a lot of time with them.
Phyllis will be dearly missed by her husband of 56 years, Paul; one son, Michael (Renita) Bellich of Savanna; two grandsons, Matthew (Tara) Bellich of Clinton, Iowa and David (fiancé, Devin Tyler) Bellich of Savanna; three great-grandchildren, Vaida Bellich, Liam Bellich, and Skye Tyler; one brother, Jason (Claire) Johns of Mt. Carroll; two sisters, Marie (Steve) Brkljack of Savanna and Lorrene (Mack) West of Savanna.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters, Lois Johns, Joyce Johns and Betty Jo Meador; and one brother-in law, Dale Meador.
