Pet Stevens, age 91, formerly of Savanna, Illinois, passed away, Sunday
July 9, 2006. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.

Pet was born in Savanna, Illinois, on March 22, 1915, the daughter of Thomas P. and Bula (Krell) Madsen. She was a graduate of the Savanna Township High School, Class of 1933. On July 24, 1937, Pet married Daune F. Stevens in Savanna. Pet was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church in Savanna. She taught Sunday school for a great many years and was a choir member for over 50 years. She was a longtime member of the Evangelism Committee, as well as United Methodist Women and a member of Esther Circle. Pet faithfully served her church all her life.
While her children were school age, she was active in P.T.A. and worked for eight years in the Savanna High School cafeteria. In addition, she participated in Chapter CE of P.E.O., the Wednesday Study Club, and the U & I Club.
Pet enjoyed her children and grandchildren, and was dearly loved by family and friends. She and her husband were ardent travelers. Since her husband's death in 2001, Pet has resided between her daughter in California and her son in Illinois.
Pet is survived by a daughter, Janell (Richard) Mesic of Rancho Palos Verdes, California; a son, Robert Stevens (Joyce) of Palatine, Illinois;
four grandchildren, Brian (Gianni) Mesic, Scott Mesic, Ryan (Brenda)Stevens, and Lori Stevens; and a nephew, Robert Madsen of San Diego,
California.
Pet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Daune, an infant son, John Edward, and a brother, Benjamin Madsen.
