Peggy Groharing, age 57, of Thomson, Illinois died Thursday, August 9, 2012 at home. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Church of God, Mt. Carroll with Pastor Ron Abbott officiating. Burial will be in Dunshee (Lower York) Cemetery, Thomson. Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson. Memorials may be made in Peggy’s name Breast Cancer research.
Peggy was born April 1, 1955 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the daughter of George W. and Audrey (Jessee) O’Neal, Sr.. She graduated high school in 1972 at Oakridge High School, Orlando, Florida. On March 19, 1988, Peggy married Richard Groharing in Orlando, Fl.
Peggy met Richard while they both worked as Correction Officers for Orange County in Orlando, Florida. Peggy worked for Orange County for twelve years. They moved back to Richard’s hometown of Thomson in 1994.
Peggy was a member of the Church of God, Mt. Carroll and a life-member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She had a passion for hummingbirds, and most of all, loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Peggy will be dearly missed by her husband, Richard Groharing of Thomson; five sons, Chris (Melissa) O’Neal of Riverton, Utah, Dave (Kristy) Groharing of Byron, Robb (Julie) Groharing of Thomson, Steve (Susie) Groharing of Hanover, and Eric (Tamara) Groharing of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a brother, George O’Neal, Jr. of Dallas, Tx.,and her aunt Peggy Moore of Williamsburg Ohio who was her namesake. She is preceded in death by both parents.
