Pauline Themas

Pauline Themas, age 92, of Thomson, Illinois, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll. A visitation and Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory. Pauline was born December 24, 1926, in Mildred, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John and Mary (Mahalik) Stabryla. After graduating high school in Pennsylvania, she moved to Chicago to work for Time Life. It is in Chicago where she met the love of her life, Jim Themas. On January 28, 1958, Pauline married Jim, they raised three children and celebrated sixty years of marriage.

Pauline was a homemaker and loved to garden. She was known for her vegetables, flowers and fruit trees. She loved to bake cookies and pies for family and friends. Most of all, she loved her husband, Jim, they cared for each other and spent time loving each other. In earlier years she also worked at Eaton Manufacturing in Savanna.

Pauline will be dearly missed by her two sons, Robert “Bob” Themas of Sabula, Iowa and Richard “Dick” and Cheryl Themas of Clinton; her daughter, Deborah Themas and Joseph Dean of Roseville, Illinois; 6 grandchildren, Mark (Anna) Thomas, Regina (Duane) Smith, Angela ( Heath) Bergman, Aaron (Jessica Russell) Themas, Amanda (Matt) Smith and Adriane (Nick Cunningham) Themas; 10 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lilly, Aidan, Kye, Rowin, Owen, Mason, Gabriel, Caleb and Calliope; and three sisters, Mary Hargrove of Texas, Veronica (Jim) Gallagher of Pennsylvania and Blanche O’Brien of Ohio. Pauline is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Frank, John and Joseph; three sisters, Agnes, Helen and Ann; and twin granddaughters, Amber and Amara.
