Pauline Kness, age 92 of Chadwick, Illinois, died on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chadwick. Burial will take place in the Chadwick Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:30 a.m. prior to the service, at the Church. A memorial fund has been established in Pauline's memory for the First Evangelical Lutheran Church and Hospice Care.
Pauline was born on August 31, 1920, the daughter of August and Florence (Larkey) Forester in Morrison. She was raised in Morrison and attended country schools. Pauline married Carl Kness and celebrated over fifty years of marriage. Carl died on May 26, 1993.
Pauline was a homemaker who cherished taking care of her family. She helped her husband operate their family business, Kness Trucking in Chadwick. Pauline also worked at the Chadwick Grocery Store for several years. She was a longtime member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she served on several committees and councils. Pauline enjoyed sewing comforters, cooking and baking, especially her delicious cinnamon rolls and pies. She loved the time spent with close friends daily for coffee.
Pauline will be dearly missed by her daughter, Shirley (Bob) Woessner of Milledgeville, Illinois; six grandchildren, Robin (Vaughn) Palmer, Ronda (Barry) Imel, Ray (Melissa) Woessner, David (Roxanne) Kness, Steve Kness and Scott Kness; twelve great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Judy Kness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; one son Gerald “Jerry” Kness; two great-great grandsons, Josh Palmer and Jacob Kness; two sisters, Janet Mondelli and a sister in-infancy; and one brother, Henry Forester.
