Paulette Gayle Svec, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away October 29, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loving family and under the care of FHN Mercy Hospice. A celebration of life gathering will be held Friday, November 6, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna.

Paulette was born November 14, 1947, in Sterling, Illinois, the daughter of John and Vera (Smith) Hodge. She grew up in Oklahoma and married Herbert “Herb” Svec on May 11, 1987, in Lawton, Oklahoma. Throughout her life, she worked in various factories and devoted herself to making a loving home for her family. In 2016, Paulette and Herb moved to Savanna to be closer to family.

Family was at the heart of Paulette’s life. Her children remember her as “the best mom anyone could have asked for.” She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart and was a loving, supportive wife to Herb. Whether she was cooking a family meal, crocheting a blanket, or making crafts, Paulette found joy in creating things for the people she loved. Her family will treasure the warmth of her home, the care she put into everything she made, and the love she so freely shared.

Paulette will be dearly missed by her husband, Herb Svec of Savanna; two sons, Kevin (Tina) Turner of Marshall, Wisconsin, and Joey (Gracie) Turner of Norman, Oklahoma; her daughter, Angela Ghea of Savanna; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Hodge and Vera Travis; her sister, Mona Holland; and two brothers, John Hodge and Donald Travis, and her aunt Carmen Moreno.
