Paul B. Wilson, age 69 of Elizabeth, Illinois, died on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, Iowa. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Derinda. A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in Paul’s memory.
Paul was born on September 17, 1942, the son of Clarence and Ruth (Botner) Wilson in Libertyville, Illinois. His family moved to Elizabeth in 1958. He attended Elizabeth High School graduating with the Class of 1960. After graduating from high school, Paul served his country in the United States Army. He married Judy C. Leibert on September 12, 1964 in the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Paul began working for General Time Corporation, traveling to several different manufacturing plants inspecting parts for quality control, some of which were part of the Apollo Space Program. Paul and his family moved from Palatine, Illinois back to Elizabeth in 1971. He owned and operated Wilson Builders Construction Company with his brother, Phillip. He later became a self-employed contractor, designing and building many things, including his own home. Paul was a talented and meticulous wood craftsman, who truly loved working on projects. Most of all, Paul loved his family, friends and his Lord.
Paul will be dearly missed by his wife, Judy of 47 years; one son William (Jennifer) Wilson of LaSalle, Illinois; one daughter, Karen (Michael) Heidenreich of Elizabeth; two granddaughters, Hope (Eric) Jannusch of Dubuque, Iowa and Erin Heidenreich of Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Phillip Wilson.
