Paul Warner, age 88 , of Lanark, Illinois died peacefully, Sunday July 1, 2007, at his son’s home, in Spring Grove, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2007 at the Lanark United Methodist Church, Lanark Illinois with Pastor Kathryn Ling officiating. Inurnment will take place at Lanark Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2007 at the Lanark United Methodist Church with Masonic Rites accorded at 7:30 p.m. by the Lanark Masonic Lodge #423. Memorials in Paul’s honor may be given to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 410 South Hager Avenue, Barrington, Illinois 60010 and the Lanark Public Library.
Paul was born on December 2, 1918, the son of John and Edna (Gouker) Warner in Lanark, Illinois. He attended Lanark High School, graduating with the Class of 1936. On October 7, 1939, Paul married Doris Walkey in Dubuque, Iowa. Doris passed away on April 2, 2005.
Paul farmed near Lanark on the family farm until retirement, at which time, he and Doris moved to Homosassa Springs, Florida. They moved back to Lanark in 2003. Paul was a member of the Lanark United Methodist Church and the Lanark Masonic Lodge #423. Paul enjoyed camping, traveling, gardening and model railroading. Paul loved making people happy, his favorite past time was to dress as a Clown and entertain at local functions and churches.
Paul will be dearly missed by two sons, John E. Warner of Spring Grove, Illinois and James (Vicki) Warner of Lynchburg, Virginia; a daughter, Jane (Terry) Weber of Decatur, Texas; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; a brother, Wallace Warner of Shannon, Illinois and a daughter in-law, Rose Stadel of Normal, Illinois
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; one son, Joseph Warner and one sister, Maxine Snyder.
