Paul Ostrum

Paul C. Ostrum, age 92, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Thursday July 24, 2008, at the Freeport Memorial Hospital, Freeport, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded. Arrangements were handled by the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois.

Paul was born on February 16, 1916, in Hinsdale, Illinois the son of George and Caroline (Crosier) Ostrum. He graduated from Hinsdale High School, Class of 1934. On November 21, 1944, Paul married Betty Jean Davis in Montclair, New Jersey, where he was serving in the United States Navy during World War II. Paul ran a vending machine business until 1961, when he and Betty Jean moved to Massbach, Illinois to fulfill their dream of a country life and farming. Paul raised cattle until he retired in 2000. In his spare time, Paul loved horseback riding and woodworking.

Paul will be dearly missed by his wife Betty Jean; his daughter Susan Ostrum, of Platteville, Wisconsin; his son Davis (Susan) Ostrum, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; and his two grandchildren, Clay and Colt.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Karl Ostrum; and a sister, Helen O’Neill.
