Patti Thulen, 68, met her Heavenly Father on Friday, September 23, 2022. Patti was born February 23, 1954 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Ralph "Jerry" and Vivian (Miller) Gilman. She was a lifelong resident of Savanna, graduating with the class of 1972. She started her working career as a secretary at the Savanna Army Depot. After its closure, Patti worked as a CNA at various nursing and assisted living centers in the surrounding area. Prior to her retirement, she worked at Casey's "making the donuts".
Patti was a member of the First United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School when her sons were young. Patti was loving, kind and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Patti had a great love for any and all animals. If there was a stray, they found their way to her. She always enjoyed planting and watching her flowers bloom every year. She was a wiz at all types of crossword puzzles, completing them in ink with rarely a mistake.
Patti is survived by her sons, Timothy Thulen (Jon Dolieslager) of Mt. Carroll and Christopher Nortunen of Savanna; sisters, Sue Maline of San Tan Valley, AZ and Amy Nebrick of Davenport; grandchildren, Caylee and Cyrick; as well as cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends. She will be deeply missed by her long time trusted and true friend, Cindy Henderson.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at First United Methodist Church in Savanna, Illinois. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church.
