Patrick S. Watson

Jun 24, 1944 — Aug 27, 2026

Clinton, IA

Patrick “Pat” Stephen Watson, 82, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away August 27, 2026, at the University of Iowa Medical Center.

Pat was born June 24, 1944, in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Marion G. and Lucille M. Watson. Family and country would remain two of the great sources of pride throughout his life.

Directly after graduating high school, Pat enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1962 to 1965 and attaining the rank of MR3 (E-4). Among the experiences he was most proud of was his service aboard the USS George Eastman (YAG-39), a Navy research vessel involved in highly classified Department of Defense testing during the Cold War. His Navy service remained an important part of who he was throughout his life.

Following his military service, Pat built a career in the skilled trades. A Master Electrician, he worked for several businesses throughout Clinton and the surrounding area and later owned his own business before retiring.

Above all, Pat was most proud of his family. He was the father of Tamela (Chris) Montanez and Wendy Watson and the grandfather—affectionately known as “Pa”—of Tyler (Kaylee) Montanez, Emily Montanez, Noelle Hess, and Luci Hess.

Pat was formerly married to Janet Giles, with whom he raised his two daughters. He then shared many meaningful years with his beloved partner, Sharol Giebeck, who preceded him in death. In his later years, Pat found companionship with Linda Siedschlag, who remained by his side until his passing.

Pat loved living in Clinton, especially being near the Mississippi River. He enjoyed antique cars, Western television shows and books, 1950s rock and roll, and dancing—particularly the jitterbug. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Hawkeye football and basketball.

Pat was also preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Lucille Watson, and his sister, Linda Garnhart.

Pat will be remembered as a devoted father and Pa, a proud Navy veteran, and a hardworking man of integrity whose word meant something. To those who knew and loved him, Pat was simply a pretty cool guy.

A funeral service honoring Pat's life will be held Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Clinton, Iowa. Please join the family in celebrating his life. As this is a joyous remembrance, they request that attendees dress comfortably in nice, casual attire.
