Patrick “PJ” James Harrison Anderson, born January 12, 1992, will be remembered for his joyful spirit, warm sense of humor, and love of people. A friend to many, PJ enjoyed socializing and had a special gift for making others smile.
PJ graduated from West Carroll High School in 2010, where he was a member of FFA. He later worked at Malcolm Eaton in Freeport for 16 years, and had also worked at Rolling Hills in Lanark during the summers while in school. He took pride in going to work and connecting with the people around him.
PJ enjoyed Chicago Bears football, summer camp, dances, live music, and trips to see the Rockford IceHogs. He excelled in the Special Olympics. He spent much of his adult life in Freeport, where he was well known and welcomed by the community.
PJ lived with cerebral palsy and later Alexander’s disease. Through the challenges of his illnesses, his humor, love of friendship, and appreciation for time with family and others remained an important part of who he was.
He is survived by his father, Patrick Anderson of Mt. Carroll; his sister, Bethany Anderson of New Orleans; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
