Patricia "Pat" Wolber

Patricia “Pat” Wolber, age 88, passed away Friday, June 9, 2023 at MercyOne Medical Center, Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at the Law Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 19, 2023 at the funeral home, as well as one hour prior to the service.

Patricia was born June 27, 1934 in Freeport, the daughter of Louis and Gladys (Renner) Noble of Mt. Carroll. She is a 1950 graduate of the Mt. Carroll High School. She went on to Northern Illinois University where she majored in Education and was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Patricia married Bob Wolber on March 4th, 1952, on an Army Base in Georgia at the Atlanta General Depot Chapel Post. He was serving in the military at the time which took them to Germany for four years. After Bob’s service, they moved back to Mt. Carroll. They lived there until August, 1963, when they bought a small "farmette" near Chadwick, IL.

Pat taught 2nd and 5th grades at Chadwick Elementary School from 1972 to 1994. After retirement she always enjoyed when a previous student would stop and talk, to catch her up their lives, often telling her she was their favorite. They loved farming and raising animals there until 1986 when they made the move to Mt. Carroll again. After Bob retired, they moved to Thomson along the Mississippi River, which had always been their dream.

“She was the best Grandma.” Retirement allowed her to focus on the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and Bob took each grandchild on a trip in their motorhome after they graduated from 8th grade to any place they chose in the U.S. Pat and Bob enjoyed camping, boating, travelling, and spending time with friends, including Eveanna and Bill. In later years, they became snowbirds in Arizona, where Pat loved reading, crossword puzzles, and going shopping! She was a member of the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the Retired Teachers Association.

Patricia will be dearly missed by a son, Timothy (Denise Harridge) Wolber of Mt. Carroll, a daughter, Loni (Roger) Aude of Thomson; six grandchildren, Mindy (Jason) Cropper, Brittany Wolber, Heidi Waller, John (Angela) Aude, T.J. (Amanda) Wolber, Tiffany (Jeremy) Zielinski; 14 great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert (Janice) Noble of Apex, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Wolber; her parents, Louis and Gladys Noble; and her father and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Orpha (Eacker) Wolber; and two sisters, Bette Morgan and Jean Dyson.
