Patricia Gaar

Patricia A. Gaar, age 88, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Pinnacle Place in Savanna. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 27, 2014 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, Illinois. Burial will take place in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice in Patricia’s memory.
Patricia was born April 6, 1926 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of Shirley and Etheal (Mandel) Bashaw. She is a graduate of Savanna High School with the Class of 1944. Patricia worked for the Milwaukee Railroad in Savanna, as a clerk for thirty one years. She retired in 1974. On October 5, 1962 Patricia married the love of her life Vaughn Gaar in Savanna. Vaughn passed away February 17, 1989 in Savanna.
Patricia was a member of the Community Church in Savanna; past Matron with the Order of the Eastern Star Mississippi 384; past president of Carroll County Genealogical Society where she researched fifty states and counties, as well as Germany, France, England and Canada.
Patricia will be dearly missed by her sister, Shirley Nigus of Fulton, Illinois; one nephew, Tom Nigus of Berlin, Wisconsin and niece Sherry Hall of Phoenix, Arizona; and two great nephews, Scott and Sam Hall.
Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn and a brother in-law, Lawrence.
