Patricia Ann Flemming, age 68 of Miles, Iowa, died suddenly of natural causes on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the Jackson County Hospital, Maquoketa. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston with Pastor Greg Geier officiating. Burial will take place in the Miles Cemetery, Miles, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston. A memorial fund has been established in Pat’s memory.
Pat was born July 26, 1943 in Maquoketa, the daughter of Robert and Charlene (Meyer) Rupp. She attended Baldwin School and graduated from the Maquoketa High School, Class of 1960. On August 4, 1963, Pat married C. Dean Flemming at the Methodist Church, Maquoketa. He died in 1996.
Pat was a homemaker, raising twins, and farmed with her husband, Dean. She also worked at Driscoll Hardware in Preston for several years. Pat was an avid reader, and enjoyed fishing, gardening and flowers. Pat cherished the time she spent with her granddaughter, Taylor. She was a member of the Great River Threshers of Miles and St. John’s Lutheran Church of Preston.
Pat will be dearly missed by her son, Paul (Kelly) Flemming of Miles, Iowa; her daughter, Paula (Lionel) Cantu of Dallas, Texas; her granddaughter, Taylor Flemming; her father, Robert Rupp of Maquoketa; her brother, Bill (Teresa) Rupp of Alabama; two sister in-laws, Nancy (Dick) Haynes of Sabula and Norma (Steve) Round of Maquoketa; three nieces; and one nephew. Pat is preceded in death by her husband and her mother.
