Owen P Miles, Jr. was a man of impeccable character and honesty. He was deeply loved by his family. He was born on June 15, 1928. God called him home on January 22, 2014 with his wife of 62 years by his side. Funeral services and a celebration will be held on Wednesday, February 5th, at 2:00p.m., at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll, Illinois, with visitation prior to the service from 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5th, 2014 at the funeral home.
Phil Miles, as he was known, grew up in Mt. Carroll with three brothers, his dad and mother. His granddad owned the First National Bank of Mt. Carroll. The Owen Miles Museum is Phil Miles namesake. After graduating from Beloit College, he became an Independent Petroleum Geologist and moved out west to Casper Wyoming. His accomplishments as a geologist were exemplary and he was a member of The Who’s Who of the West. He was always sought after for his wisdom in the field as well as his knowledge in just about everything.
Phil loved the wide open spaces and was an avid outdoorsman. Forty years later Phil and his wife Madelyn moved to sunny Florida where he lived out the rest of his life.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Madelyn Miles, his last surviving brother, Timothy Miles of Denver CO., two daughters, Lisa (Miles) Reigelsperger, Aimie (Miles) Gonce, one granddaughter, Annique Jordan, a great grandson, Jarred Jordan, who was able to know his great grandfather.
