Olive B. Sedivy, age 83, of Savanna, Illinois, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Facility in Mount Carroll, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at the Savanna Bible Church in Savanna, Illinois with Reverend Michael Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the Bagley Cemetery in Bagley, Wisconsin. A graveside service will be held at the Bagley Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2007. A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Memorials may be directed to the Good Samaritan Nursing Facility in Mount Carroll in Olive’s memory.
Olive was born on February 4, 1924 the daughter of Charles and Alice (Burrows) Hartline in Wyalusing, Wisconsin. Olive was raised and educated in the Wyalusing area. Olive married Peter Frank Sedivy on December 16, 1939 in Wyalusing. Peter passed away on December 30, 1994.
Olive moved to Savanna and worked for the Savanna Army Ordinance Depot and the Indian Head Inn in Savanna. Olive later worked for the Eaton Corporation and also the Swiss Colony in Savanna, retiring in 2002. Upon retiring Olive enjoyed spending time with the elderly. She was a longtime member of the Savanna Bible Church in Savanna. Olive was active in the Rebecca Lodge and the Royal Neighbors. She enjoyed lawn work and canning vegetables from her garden. Most of all, Olive loved spending time with her family and taking care of her children and grandchildren.
Olive is survived by her two sons; Chuck (Kerry) Sedivy of Hanover, Illinois and Bill (Jayne) Sedivy of Thomson, Illinois; one daughter Alice (Darold) Austin of Galesburg, Illinois; sixteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Olive was preceded in death by her husband, Peter and one son, Peter Joe.
