Norman “Chatter” Yaddof, age 81, of Preston, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at his home in Preston after a short illness. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2016 at S. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston. Burial will take place in the Preston Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, and also one hour prior to the service at the Church on Monday.
Norman was born on April 21, 1935, the son of Elmer and Norma (Ruchotzke) Yaddof in Preston. He attended Preston High School and graduated with the Class of 1954. Norman married Jeanne Ready on August 23, 1957. They celebrated nearly 59 years of marriage until Jeanne’s death on August 18, 2016.
Norman drove truck for Beatrice Cheese, Bordens, and the Preston Feed Mill for 32 years until his retirement in 2000. He was a lifelong member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, and a volunteer Fireman at the Preston Fire Department. He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball in high school. He later loved to watch his grandkids excel in the same sports as he did. Chatter was an avid outdoorsmen. He enjoyed trapping, hunting and fishing. If he wasn’t over the road with family, or in the great outdoors, you could always find Chatter at a local establishment, bragging about his grandkids or his latest trophy that he caught.
Norman will be dearly missed by his four sons, Dennis Yaddof of Preston, David (Janell) Yaddof of Bellevue, Iowa, Danny (Nancy) Yaddof and Doug Yaddof, both of Preston; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer (Carol) Yaddof, Jr., and Alvin Yaddof, both of Preston; and a sister, Lois (Larry) Hoffman of Preston.
Norman is preceded in death by his wife Jeanne; his parents, Elmer and Norma; his Father and Mother-in-Law, Harold and Reva Ready; three brothers, Everett, Bobby and Melvin; one sister, Florence; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
