Norman L. True, age 78, of Hanover, Illinois, passed away Friday, November 23, 2007, at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday November 27, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Hanover, Illinois, with Reverend Robert Phelps of Pleasant Valley Church of God, Mt. Carroll, Illinois officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Hanover, with Visitation on Monday November 26, 2007 from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family in Norman’s name
Norman was born on June 27, 1929, the son of Theodore and Mable (Doering) True in Gratiot, Wisconsin. On February 18, 1950, Norman married Kathleen “Kate” A. Bailey in Galena, Illinois. Kate died on September 27, 2000 in Dubuque, Iowa.
Norman was employed as a Machinist by the Savanna Army Depot, Savanna, Illinois for over thirty years and retired in 1976. He was a member of Savanna Bible Church, Savanna, the Men’s Bible Study, and the Palisades Amateur Ham Radio Club. Norman loved music, he played the harmonica, organ, piano, and accordion. Norman also enjoyed being a Ham Radio Operator and spending time doing carpentry work and growing vegetables in his garden. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Norman will be dearly missed by four sons, Michael (the late Bonnie) True of Plano, Texas, Patrick (Janet) True of Hanover, Illinois, Jeffrey (Sandy) True of Lanark, Illinois and Gary (Amy) True of Madison, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Francis True of Maquoketa, Iowa.
Norman is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Kathleen; five brothers, LeRoy Roy True, Charles Warren True, Winfield True, Vail True and Ransom True; three sisters, Helen Bell and Sadie Marie Jerry and Junita True.
