Norman A. Steinkamp, age 85 of Elizabeth, Illinois died Monday, April 06, 2015 at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Norman was born September 10, 1929 the son of George and Hulda (Baade) Steinkamp in Hawarden, Iowa. He attended and graduated from the University of Illinois. Norman honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He later went to work for the Sunbeam Appliance Company in Oak Brook, Illinois, until his retirement in 1989.
Norman married the love of his life, Judy Thompson on July 31, 1975 in Chicago Heights, Illinois. They resided in the La Grange, Illinois, and they later moved to Cedar Grove, Wisconsin. He enjoyed landscape painting, playing the guitar & banjo, fishing, golfing. Most of all Norman, treasured his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Norman will be dearly missed by his wife, Judy; two sons, Peter (Debbie) Steinkamp of Portland, Oregon, John (Steve) Steinkamp of Portland; two daughters, Erika (Eddie) Wildrick of Alexandria, Virginia, Jill Diederich of Roscoe, Illinois; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a brother, George (Sylvia) Steinkamp Jr. of Burnsville, Minnesota. Norman is preceded in death by a son, Andrew; five brothers, Ted, Bob, Eugene, Richard, Rolland and a sister, Charlotte.
