Norma Gail Noonan, a devoted mother, proud patriot, and beloved "Ebay Queen," passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 8. A woman of deep faith and fierce love for her family, Norma leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and cherished memories.
Norma was born on April 8, 1955, the daughter of Michael and Delphia (Ratliff) Kirk. Raised in Chicago, Illinois, she attended local schools and started her family at a young age. Being a mother was Norma’s greatest calling; she was a tireless worker for her children, possessing a "tough when she needed to be" spirit that ensured her family was always cared for and protected.
She had a profound love for the outdoors, a passion she made sure to pass down to her children. The family spent many precious weeks "roughing it" at Spruce Creek, White Pines, and various other campgrounds and forests. Norma even taught her boys how to fish, creating memories that her children still hold dear today.
Professionally, Norma served as a Medical Transcriptionist at Rush Hospital in Chicago for many years. Upon her retirement, she traded medical records for the thrill of the hunt, becoming the "Ebay Queen." She was a fixture at local flea markets, estate sales, and thrift stores. Her family affectionately nicknamed her "Fifty Cents," because no matter the item, Norma insisted she only paid fifty cents for it.
In 1989, Norma met the love of her life, George Noonan. They were united in marriage in 1998 and spent the last 27 years living their best lives together.
Norma was a true patriot and a woman of conviction. She was a proud member of the Mt. Carroll Republican Women Association and a staunch supporter of America’s veterans. Every first Friday of the month, Norma could be found at the senior center, delivering homemade desserts and treats to the veterans as a small token of her immense gratitude for their service.
Above all, Norma’s "faith" was her family. She was happiest when her house was full of laughter and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren were gathered around her. To those who knew her, she was the sweetest, kindest, and most giving person—a woman whose heart was as big as her spirit.
Norma will be dearly missed by her husband, George Noonan of Lanark; her children, Michelle Tirado of Lanark, Raymond Anthony Tirado of Chicago, and David Tirado of Valparaiso, IN; thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; her father, Mike Kirk (Rich Mach) of Chicago; her stepchildren, Christopher Noonan and James (Tina) Noonan; her son-in-law, Bruce Phipps; and her siblings, Joseph, Sheilah, Jessica, and Beverly.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Phipps; her mother, and Delphia Kirk (Ratliff); and her brother Derek Kirk.
