Norma Jean Holy, age 94, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society, Mt. Carroll, Illinois, two days after her 94th birthday. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in Center Hill Cemetery.
Norma was born March 29, 1925 in Savanna to Jens and Marie (Boerner) Hansen. On August 14, 1955 she married Merle Holy in Savanna, celebrating 63 years of marriage as of last year. She graduated from Savanna High School in 1943, and has been a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Savanna. In her earlier years Norma worked at the Savanna Army Depot. She was a 84 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to travel by car or to take bus trips. Her two favorite destinations were Branson Missouri, and Phoenix Arizona. Holidays were special to Norma, she would decorate her home for each one. At Good Sam, Norma took part in many activities, bingo being her favorite pastime.
Norma will be dearly missed by her husband, Merle Holy, her son, Richard Holy, and numerous cousins and friends. Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Jen and Marie (Boerner) Hansen.
