Norma was born February 5, 1926 in Iowa, the daughter of Wayne and Mabel (Frahm) Farley. She attended Preston schools, graduating from Preston High School with the class of 1946. Shortly after high school, Norma married Donald Jargo and together, they had a son, David. Later, in 1952, Norma married Robert Claussen. They celebrated 27 years of marriage before Bob’s passing in 1979.
Norma spent her married life as a farm wife, and after Bob’s passing, moved back to Preston and began babysitting. She thoroughly enjoyed playing scrabble and games with her family. She also enjoyed doing word searches, puzzles, coloring books, and playing cards at the Manor in Preston. When she wasn’t playing games, she was teaching herself and practicing her skills on the organ for the family to enjoy.
Norma’s ancestors, the Farley family, were among the first to settle the town of Preston, IA, more than 150 years ago. In fact, her great-great-grandfather owned the land on which the town was built. She was the last living Farley, in Preston.
Norma will be dearly missed by her son, David (Diane) Jargo of Preston, IA; four grandchildren, Dean (Karen) Jargo of Wichita, KS, Doug (Rennet Gruver) Jargo of Preston, Darren Jargo of Preston, Danielle (David) Putman of Bellevue, IA; two sisters, Janet and Roberta, and eight great-grandchildren.
