Nola Jean Hoffmann, age 73, of Spragueville, Iowa, died Sunday, November 20, 2005 at Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, Iowa. Private Family Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 26, 2005 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Preston, Iowa. Burial will take place in Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. Pastor Mark Grussendorf of Pastoral Care at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa will officiate. A Public Visitation will be from 4:00 –8:00 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2005 at the Funeral Home in Preston. Memorials may be made to the family in Nola’s name.
Nola Jean was born on December 20, 1931 at the home of her parents, Theodore Miller Struble and Delia (Ehlers) Struble in Spragueville. She attended Fairfield Twp. #4 Country School in Spragueville for eight years. After graduation from Preston High School in 1949 she began work as bookkeeper and teller at the Farmers Savings Bank in Spragueville, a position held for over twenty-two years.
Nola Jean married Marlin D. Hoffman on May 19, 1957 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale at Nashua, Iowa.
Nola Jean was a member of the Real Farmers Daughters 4-H Club and later a leader in that group. She was a member of New Hope Organ Transplant Support Group and has been treasurer for the City of Spragueville since 1970.
Nola Jean’s hobbies included sewing and needlework, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Nola Jean is survived by her husband, Marlin; her daughter, Kay of Spragueville, Iowa; a sister, Joy Eads of Preston; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
