Nelda Ain

Nelda June Drain, age 97, of Savanna, Illinois, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Society, Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2015 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. A private graveside service will be held at the Savanna Township Cemetery at a later date. A memorial fund has been established in Nelda’s memory.
Nelda was born July 23, 1917, the daughter of John and Alma (Wixson) Coppernoll in Stockton, Illinois. Nelda married Ray Drain on April 27, 1943 in Kahoka, Missouri. Ray died November 15, 1976. Nelda worked as a cashier for National Tea and Red Fox Grocery Stores in Savanna until her retirement in 1982. She enjoyed reading and completing crosswords, but the greatest joy in Nelda’s life came from spending time with her beloved family.
Nelda will be dearly missed by her daughter, Penny Kreusch of Savanna; two grandchildren Cameron Randall and Tracy (Terry) Rittmer of Savanna; four great-grandchildren, Ashley Randall of Phoenix, Arizona, Kirstin (Tyler) Jones of Savanna, Chelsea (Chris) Davis of Mt. Carroll, and Jordan Anderson of Savanna; one great-great-grandson, Wyatt Wurster of Savanna; one brother, Edward Coppernoll of Stockton; one sister, Dorothy Taylor of Savanna, and many nieces and nephews.Nelda is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Ray; two sisters, Nettie Dixon and Alma Reed; and two great-grandsons, Tyler and Travis Randall.
