Nancy Louise Swift, age 77, of Savanna, Illinois, died Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Allure Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the Church. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date in Spring Lake Cemetery, Savanna. Memorials may be given in Nancy’s honor to the First Presbyterian Church.
Nancy was born November 25, 1941, the daughter of Marvin and Elemeta (Bahr) Stadel on the family farm in Thompson Township, near Schapville, Illinois. She attended Scales Mound High School, graduating with the Class of 1959. She graduated from Sterling School of Beauty Culture in 1960. Nancy met the love of her life, Russell “Butch” Swift at the Royal Palace in Galena, Illinois. They married on November 7, 1964 in Schapville, Illinois. Together they raised two children and celebrated 54 years of marriage.
Nancy was a hairdresser for 36 years, until her retirement in 2002. After retirement, she and Butch spent winters in Ironwood Mobile Park in Apache Junction, Arizona. She enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards, shuffleboard, bean bags, and bingo. Nancy always had a smile on her face and was her kids’ biggest supporter when they were in sports. She was not only a Mom to her own kids, but a Mom to their friends as well. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Savanna Moose Lodge.
Nancy will be dearly missed by her husband, Butch; two children, Steven (Carrie) Swift of Frederick, Colorado, and Stacy Webster of Savanna; two grandchildren, Ian and Gabrielle Miller; a brother-in-law, Bruce (Becky Newcomb) Browne of Savanna; a sister-in-law, Janie Stadel of Schapville, Illinois; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Elemeta; a brother, George in 1997; and a son-in-law, Don Webster in 2016.
