Nancy M. Johnson, age 72, of Savanna, Illinois, died on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service. A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial of her cremated remains will take place in Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna. A memorial fund has been established in Nancy’s memory.
Nancy was born on December 29, 1935, the daughter of Russell and Norma (Madison) Gleason, in Savanna. She attended and graduated from Savanna Schools with the Class of 1954. Nancy married Wilbur Hull in Savanna in 1957. Together they had a son, James Lee, in 1960. Nancy married Ernest Johnson in Lanark, Illinois, in 1967. Ernest died on January 7, 1991
Nancy was a Nurse’s Aide at the Savanna City Hospital for several years. She also lived and worked in Barstow and Fulton, Illinois before returning to Savanna after her husband’s death in 1991. The remainder of her life was spent living at Mest Manor and sharing a full, active life until illness slowed her down in recent years. Nancy enjoyed crocheting and crafting. Most of all, Nancy loved spending time with her family and friends.
Nancy is survived by her son, James (Connie) Hull of Darlington, Wisconsin; two grandsons, Russell (Alissa) Hull of Ft. Polk, Louisiana (U.S. Army) and Joseph Hull of Darlington, Wisconsin; one brother, Donald (Doris) Gleason of Afton, New York; one sister, Ruth (Daniel) Soppe of Savanna, Illinois; one uncle, Alfred Madison; eighteen nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; an infant brother, George Henry Gleason; a sister-in-law, Kathy Gleason; a brother-in-law, Peter Neubauer; and two young nieces, Sarah and Barbara.
