Nadene G. McIntyre, age 93 of Hanover, Illinois, died on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the Hanover United Methodist Church with Reverend Bill Blomberg officiating. Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. A visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.prior to the service at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Nadene’s memory.
Nadene was born on March 19, 1917, the daughter of Charles F. “Frank” and Gertrude (Kuhns) Graham in Hanover. She attended Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois graduating with the Class of 1940. She married John G. “Jack” McIntyre on September 21, 1940 in the St. Luke’s Methodist Church, Dubuque, Iowa. Jack died on August 28, 1997 in Dubuque.
Nadene worked as a State Investigator for the Department of Professional Services, retiring in 1982. She attended the Hanover United Methodist Church and was a fifty-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Stockton. Nadene served as a County Chair Woman for eight years and was involved in Republican Women for twenty-five years. She also participated in the Hanover Women’s Club and was a member of the Apple River Canyon Daughters of the American Revolution. Nadene enjoyed reading, needlework and traveling throughout the United States. In her travels, Nadene visited a total of forty-nine states. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge and was an original member of the Dirty 8’s Bridge Club. Most of all, Nadene cherished spending time with her family and friends.
Nadene will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Yerda (Clyde) Potter of Hanover and Peggy (Dick) Morse of Hanover; three grandchildren, Rod (Suzette) Morse of Tampa, Florida, Darcy (Matt) Wild of Hanover, and Jeffrey (Brenda) Potter of Hanover; five great grandchildren; and one sister in-law, Virginia McIntyre Jones in Freemont, California.
Nadene is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; and two brothers.
