Toody was born April 28, 1931 at home in rural Stanley, Wisconsin to Frank E. Mohr and Myrtle (Abrams) Mohr. Toody was the youngest of 10 children. When Toody was born she was very small and her mother said she was little as a Toody and the nickname stuck with her.
After all her brothers and sisters were raised on the farm, Toody’s parents moved into town where they ran a grocery store. Toody practically was raised in the store. It was a friendly Ma and Pa type grocery store, and people would come for long visits. Toody liked to talk and visit while she sat in a rocking chair and rocked. She went to school in Stanley and graduated from high school in 1949. She attended Eau Claire Teachers College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Laurence W. Henneman and Myrtle Jean were married on June 10, 1951 at the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren. They farmed briefly in rural Stanley then moved to Milledgeville, Illinois in 1954. They then moved to a farm in rural Lanark in 1967 where they farmed until they retired to Lanark in 1991. Toody enjoyed helping on the farm, cooking large meals for guests in their home. Laurence was fond of telling guests that “Toody has cooked half the township for us today!” She was an excellent cook! Toody worked at Green Giant several summers, she also worked at the Shell gas station across the street from their home in Lanark until she retired. Most of all, Toody loved having her family around her.
Toody is survived and lovingly remembered by her two daughters and one son, Barbara (Barry) Kniss of Mt. Carroll, Larry (Opal) Henneman of McCall and Burdine (Bill) Harrison of Chadwick, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Jon Kniss, Amanda (Casey) Kloepping, Bryan Kniss, Shane Henneman, Sarah Farmer, Tanya Fredrick, William Harrison, Brandon Harrison; 11 great-grandchildren, Laura, Christopher, and Jacob Kniss, Erin, Josiah and Tessa Kloepping, Katie Henneman, Jolie and Haley Harrison, Daniel and Jennifer Harrison; and one brother-in-law, Rae (Audrey) Henneman of Rochester, Minnesota.
Toody was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, two sisters, one son, Glenn and her husband, Laurence.
