Myrtle H. Bowling, age 88, of Sabula, Iowa passed away Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2007 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Sabula, Iowa with Sister LuAnn Kilburg officiating. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula. Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 28, 2007, at Law Jones Funeral Home, Sabula, Iowa. Memorials may be given in Myrtle’s memory.
Myrtle was born on March 19, 1919, to Henry and Sarah Hicks in Big Creek Hollow, Carretta, West Virginia. Myrtle married Ora E. Bowling on August 15, 1935, in Pineville, West Virginia. Ora passed away on October 29, 1965.
Myrtle enjoyed being a homemaker, she loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed embroidery, playing BINGO, and doing crossword puzzles.
Myrtle is survived by her four sons, Ted (Doris) Bowling of Clarksville, Tennessee; Ronald (Rodessa) Bowling of Madison Heights, Virginia, Daniel Bowling of Big Island, Virginia; James (Judy) Bowling of Sabula, Iowa and one daughter; Ruth (David) Smith of Sabula, Iowa; twenty grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Ora; parents; thirteen brothers and sisters; one infant son, Norman; one daughter, Violet; and one daughter in-law, Audrey.
