Myrtie Lee Hartman, age 69 of Thomson, Illinois died on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Thomson United Methodist Church with Reverend Paul Fritz officiating. Burial will take place in the Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. A visitation will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson. A memorial fund has been established in Myrtie’s memory.
Myrtie was born the daughter of Carl and Edith (Melburg) Foote, on May 22, 1943, in State Center, Iowa. She graduated from State Center High School in 1961and later attended cosmetology school. Myrtie married Gary D. Hartman on October 24, 1964 in State Center.
Myrtie worked as a beautician and was a waitress at several area restaurants. She was an active member of the Thomson Methodist Church. Myrtie enjoyed bowling, fishing, and riding their Harley Davidson motorcycle with her husband. Myrtie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She was loved by most everyone that met her, and will be sorely missed.
Myrtie is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gary; one son Todd (Buffy) Hartman of Maquoketa, Iowa; one daughter, Wendy (Scott) Rainey of Indianapolis, Indiana; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters. She is preceded in death by her parents.
