Murvel "Mert" Norman

Murvel “Mert” Norman age 87, of Savanna, Illinois passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Society in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2015 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Burial will take place in Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Mert’s memory.
Mert was born on October 10, 1927 in Pacific Junction, Iowa the daughter of Edward and Gertrude (Fitch) Johnson. She attended and graduated from the Pacific Junction High School. She worked in the nursing field until she married. On July 7, 1951 Mert married Frank Norman in Savanna. Frank Passed away in 1986. Mert worked for the Eaton Corporation, Savanna for twenty two years retiring in 1985.
Mert was a member and ordained Elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Savanna. She did volunteer work for the food pantry and Big Meadows Nursing Home and was a volunteer Hospice worker. She was active in Bible Study and Church was part of her life.
Mert will be dearly missed by her son, Frank (Cindy) Norman of Savanna; two grandchildren, Ashley and Brad (Allison) Struve; two great grandchildren, Mylah and Haven Struve; many nieces and nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers; one sister and many nieces and nephews and friends.
