Miron J. Roberts, 92 of Woodbine, Illinois and formerly of Glenview, Illinois, died Friday, August 17, 2007, at the Elizabeth Nursing Home in Elizabeth, Illinois. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday August 24, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth, Illinois. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Pastor Jeremy Yowell of the Grace Bible Church of Woodbine, Illinois will officiate. Interment will be in Woodbine Cemetery, Woodbine, Illinois.
Miron was born January 19, 1915, in Woodbine, Illinois the son of George and Theresa (Schreck) Roberts. He attended Elizabeth High School and graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. He met and married his wife Lorraine Rosentreter on September 7, 1940 in the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. Lorraine was at that time a High School English Teacher. She passed away June 18, 1995.
Miron and Lorraine had four children: Ken, Mary, Donald and Richard. Miron started work at Kraft Foods in Stockton, Illinois. Kraft Foods took Miron and his family to live and work in many places (Chicago; Pocatello, Idaho; Knightstown, Indiana; and finally Glenview, Illinois). Each of his children were born at one of these locations. Miron worked for Kraft Foods for over 38 years and holds a patent in cheese for Kraft Foods, which he received in 1972. He retired from Kraft Foods in 1976 and came back to live in his hometown of Woodbine.
Miron loved working with the Boy Scouts and was a Merit Badge Counselor but he concentrated on two of his many favorite loves in life…fishing and gardening.
Miron is survived by two sons: Donald (Sandra) of Palatine, Illinois, and Richard (Pamela) of Glenview, Illinois. nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Miron was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lorraine, his son Ken, his daughter Mary (Jon) Cordes, and two brothers, Clyde and Merle.
