Milton Daniels

Milton Daniels, 85, of Preston, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family that he loved dearly. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2011, at the Miller – Law – Jones Funeral Home in Preston. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, at the Green Island Congregational Church, Green Island, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Reeseville Cemetery, rural Miles, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Milton was born February 25, 1926, in Green Island, Iowa, the son of Leslie and Mavis (Baker) Daniels. He married Marion Yoerger on September 19, 1949, in Maquoketa, Iowa. Milton worked for the Milwaukee Rail Road for forty years. He and Marion also farmed in the Sabula and Green Island area for many years before moving to Preston.
Milton was a member of the Green Island Congregational Church. He loved sports and especially enjoyed playing baseball and fast pitch softball for many teams in the area. Milton also enjoyed country western music and dancing, and playing cards.
Milton is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of over sixty two years, Marion Daniels of Preston, Iowa; one daughter, Darla (Gary) Smith of Sabula, Iowa; one son, Roger Daniels of Bellevue, Iowa; two grandsons, Chad Devereaux of Sabula, and Travis (Nicki) Smith of Sabula; one great grandson, Kory Devereaux of Sabula; four sisters, Marilyn Williams of Maquoketa, Iowa, Beverly Wylie of Maquoketa, Myrna (Darrell) Kaczinski of Delmar, Iowa, and Judy (Dale) Pataska of Miles, Iowa; two brothers, Jerry (Bonnie) Daniels of Miles, and Dale (Gayle) Daniels of Miles; and many nieces and nephews.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Doris Behn, Darlene Daniels, and Karen Daniels; and five brothers, Donnie, Clifford, Jack, Norbert, and Arlo Daniels.
Milton’s family would like to thank Jackson County Home Health, Jackson County Hospice, and Dr. Kimberly Thompson for all of their care and support.
