Mildred Tripp, age 81, of Sterling, Illinois, formerly of Chadwick, Illinois died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at CGH Hospital, Sterling. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2013 at Hope United Methodist Church, Chadwick. Burial will be in the Chadwick Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, prior to the service at the Church. Memorials may be given in her name.
Mildred was born July 22, 1931 in Lanark, Illinois, the daughter of Floyd and Ida (Michael) Tripp. Mildred was disabled all of her life, but was very active and made the most of life. At one time, she worked as a newspaper delivery person for the Clinton Herald and the Freeport Journal. She resided at Sterns Square in Sterling for over thirty years. The residents and workers at Stern Square were her best friends.
Mildred was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church, Chadwick. She enjoyed embroidery and music, especially country music. She was active in the Special Olympics and received many awards. Mildred loved going to any Church and attending family reunions.
Mildred is survived by a brother, Allen (Georgia) Tripp of Sterling; a sister in-law, Florence Tripp of Chadwick; and many nieces and nephews. Mildred is preceded in death by two sisters, Irma Williams and Bernadine Messenger; three brothers, Charles, Kenneth and Lyle Tripp; and both parents.
