Mildred Bruckner, age 94, of Thomson, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. A time of fellowship will be held at 1110 Locust Street, Thomson following the graveside service. A memorial fund has been established in Mildred’s memory.
Mildred was born on December 16, 1920, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Rott) Bulin in Yuba, Wisconsin. She attended Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, Wisconsin and graduated with the Class of 1939. She later attended Kahler Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota were she earned the title of Registered Nurse. She worked for Dr. Speer in Hanover, Illinois, until her children were born and she became a full time mother and farmer. On September 20, 1947, Mildred married the love her life Lloyd M. Bruckner in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. Lloyd passed away on December 26, 1998.
In Mildred’s younger years, she took many trips including Europe, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and California many times to visit friends. Mildred enjoyed reading, corresponding with family members, baking for her family painting and crafts.
Mildred will be dearly missed by her children, Lawrence (Luanne) Bruckner of Thomson, Nancy (Rich) Spinelli of Sedona, Arizona, Clarence (Allison) Bruckner of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Brianna Bruckner, Bryan and Eric Spinelli; three step-grandchildren, Matthew (Carolyn) Henneman of Houston, Texas, Amie (Michael) Callahan of Moline, Illinois, Heidi Henneman of San Francisco, California; five step-great-grandchildren, Margaret Henneman, Sarah, Bryn, Matthew and Bailey Callahan. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; a grandson, Lawrence Lloyd Bruckner II; three sisters, Mary Bulin, Lucy Bulin and Helen Genz.
