Michael Peter Toennessen

Michael Peter Toennessen, age 73, of Clinton, Iowa, formerly of Seattle, Washington, passed away at home on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

Michael was born on October 20, 1952, in Seattle, Washington, to Michael and Adele (Trierweiler) Toennessen. He grew up in Seattle and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971. On August 15, 1997, Michael married the love of his life, Kathleen "Kate" Brune, in Seattle. Their love story began when Michael moved into Kate's apartment building, and as they say, the rest was history. Together, they shared 29 wonderful years of marriage and relocated to Clinton, Iowa.

Professionally, Michael worked in Information Technology. In his younger years, he also enjoyed a stint as a disc jockey in Seattle. His love for audio continued throughout his life, as he was an avid fan of old radio shows and a member of a radio show club. Michael also had a passion for technology, old movies, trains, and tractors.

Michael will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Kate Brune of Clinton; his three sisters, Aileen, Nancy, and Lynn; his sister-in-law, Nancy (Tom) Streveler; his brothers-in-law, Fran (Rose) Brune and Dan (Kay) Brune; his cherished cats, Jasmine and Betsy; and many nieces and nephews.
