Michael Thomas Swiech

Michael Swiech of Mount Carroll, 27, passed away on Friday, Feb 17, 2023, in Chadwick, Illinois from a tragic accident. A visitation will be held 3-7 p.m. Sunday, February 26, at Law Jones Funeral Home in Mount Carroll. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 27 at SS. John & Catherine Catholic Church, Mount Carroll, followed by a luncheon at the church. Inurnment will take place later at Oak Hill Cemetery in Mount Carroll.

Michael was born on March 2, 1995 in Freeport Illinois. He moved to Germany when he was young and attended German Schools until he graduated. He spoke German, English, and French. Michael obtained his US General Education Development (GED) after just a few days of studying. As an adult, Michael was able to obtain a very challenging Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license. He enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard in 2021.

Michael had a very good sense of humor and liked jokes of all kinds. His favorite hobby was listening to music. Most of all, he liked doing things for his family and attending family gatherings. He
was a very good eater!!!! Michael was the best Son, Brother, Grandson, Uncle, Nephew, or Cousin we could ever have.

Michael will be dearly missed by his family. He is survived by his Mother, Simone Geiken (Germany); Father, Mark (Jody) Swiech; Sisters, Michelle Swiech (Artis Davis) and Lily Swiech; Nephew, Kayden Azucar; Niece, Arianne Davis; Grandparents, John and Thelma Swiech; Grandmother, Marianne Geiken (Germany); Aunt, Teresa (Bill) Halcomb; Uncle, Steve (Amanda) Swiech; Aunt, Sandra (Ronald) Leagon; Great Aunt, Margaret Pociecha; Uncles, Deiter and Sascha Geiken (Germany), Uncles Thomas, Stephan, Berndt, and Bodo Helfers (Germany); and Cousins, John (Lily) Charles and Dalton Swiech. Michael was preceeded in death by his Grandfather, Deiter Geiken; Great Grandfather, John Swiech; and Great Grandmother, Mary Swiech.
