Michael Simpson, age 69, of Deltona, Florida, formerly of Thomson, Illinois, passed away Monday, November 25, 2019 at AdventHealth Fish Memorial Hospital, Orange City, Florida. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Lower York Cemetery, Thomson.
Michael was born June 8, 1950, the son of Burton and Mary (Falsneik) Simpson in Savanna, Illinois. While growing up, he attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He graduated from Thomson High School with the Class of 1968. After high school, Michael attended Sauk Valley Community College, and then earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communication from Northern Illinois University. He would later go on to receive his Master’s Degree from Northern in 1977.
After working for a short time in Cincinnati, Michael took a position as Media Director for Seminole State College in Sanford, Florida from 1983 until his retirement in 2013.
Michael will be dearly missed by three cousins, Richard Turney of Thomson, Illinois, Susan Simpson-Jones, of St. Charles, Illinois, and Julie Simpson-Sellers of Batavia, Illinois; a special friend and caregiver, Miguel Martinez of Deltona, Florida; and a community of caring friends in Central Florida.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, and a special friend, Anthony Molinario.
