Michael N. "Mick" Wurster

Michael N. “Mick” Wurster, age 50, of Hanover, Illinois died on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Iowa City VA Healthcare System, Iowa City, Iowa. Cremation Rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover with Reverend Ron Sumption officiating. Burial of his cremated remains will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Lower York Cemetery, Thomson with Military Rites accorded by the Thomson American Legion Post Donald Ashpole #1025. A memorial gathering will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Mick’s memory.
Mick was born on November 16, 1962, the son of Elmer and Patricia (Spencer) Wurster in Savanna, Illinois. He enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 16 and served his country for six years. Mick married Elizabeth “Betty” Hebert on March 20, 1998 in Mount Carroll, Illinois.
Mick was Bucket Operator for the family business, Wurster Tree Service in Thomson, Illinois for several years. He was a member of the Hanover VFW Post #5300. Mick enjoyed spending time with his friends and playing cards, especially Euchre. He loved spoiling his grandchildren, especially his granddaughter, Karmah.
Mick will be dearly missed by his wife, Betty; five children, Andrew (Starr Mellendorf) Wurster of Port Huron, Michigan, Brandi (Kenneth) Atkins of Clinton, Iowa, Marty Weimerskirk of Hanover, Darren Weimerskirk of Hanover and Tina (Rueben Saenz) Weimerskirk of Freeport, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Monica, Dominick and Alex Empen, Tiffany and Ariana (Due in March of 2013) Wurster and Taven, Wendy and Karmah Weimerskirk; his mother, Patricia Wurster of Thomson and one sister, Sherri (Joe) Turbyfield of Johnson City, Tennessee.
Mick is preceded in death by his father, Elmer; and one brother, William Wurster.
